Aviation has become a major part of my life — from owning and flying airplanes to volunteering with EAA, flying Young Eagles, working toward new aviation skills, and pursuing the long-term goal of building my own Experimental Super Cub.
I’m an instrument-rated private pilot and owner of a 1966 Cessna 182J. I also enjoy the technical side of aviation, whether that means learning more about aircraft maintenance, working on the Grumpy Cub project, or developing apps and digital tools inspired by the things I do in the real world.
Hangar 54 Digital is where I bring those interests together and share the airplanes, projects, experiences, and lessons I pick up along the way.
Background
My professional career has been in the oil and gas industry, where I have spent years working in operations and leadership roles. That experience has shaped the way I approach projects — with an emphasis on planning, problem solving, practical solutions, and continuous improvement.
Those same habits carry over into aviation, aircraft ownership, building projects, and software development. Whether I’m working on an airplane or creating an app, I enjoy understanding how things work and finding ways to make them more useful, efficient, and easier to manage.
Aviation & EAA
Aviation has given me opportunities to do much more than just fly. Through my involvement with EAA, I’ve been able to volunteer, support chapter activities, share aviation with others, and participate in Young Eagles flights that introduce young people to general aviation.
I also enjoy the hands-on side of aviation — learning more about aircraft maintenance, understanding how airplanes are built, and continuing work toward my long-term goal of building an Experimental Super Cub largely from scratch.
For me, aviation is a combination of flying, learning, building, and sharing the experience with others.
Apps & Digital Projects
I also enjoy building digital tools that solve real-world problems. Through Experimental Apps, I develop iPhone and iPad apps inspired by aviation, field work, and practical tasks where a simple tool can make a job easier.
Some of those projects grow directly out of my own experiences as a pilot and aircraft owner, while others come from years of working in the oil and gas industry. I enjoy taking an idea, simplifying it, and turning it into something useful.
Hangar 54 Digital gives me a place to bring the aviation, building, and digital sides of those interests together.
Hangar 54 Digital is simply a place to document the things I enjoy doing — flying airplanes, working on projects, learning new skills, building useful tools, and sharing some of those experiences along the way.
I don’t expect the journey to ever really be finished. There will always be another flight to make, another project to work on, and something new to learn.
